Finland has a long history in environmental protection. As most of the country is covered by thriving forests (76%) and another tenth of the land is covered by water, including lakes and rivers that were formed by the last Ice Age.

Finns have learned how to improve eco-efficiency by creating more value with less environmental impact throughout generations. Finland has been top-ranked in the World Economic Forum's Environmental Sustainability Index (ESI) since 2000. This is largely contributed to our effective and strict environmental controls and regulations.
